One advantage of using news sources rather than scholarly journal
articles, government reports, or books is that you can find
out about very recent events.
With the exception of some types of news such as feature stories
and investigative reports, news articles usually give an account
of a recent event in the first few paragraphs. This is one way
you can distinguish news from scholarly information.
Read the first few paragraphs of the news article, "Diversity
seen as vital to crop survival". (Like all outside links in the
VILLAGE, it will open in a new window).
Notice the recent event
that is mentioned in the third paragraph.
