We have discussed some of the ways different news articles
can provide different perspectives on the same event or issue.
Once you have analyzed an article to see what perspectives
it takes on an issue, you can then consider where those perspectives
may be coming from. Here are four basic questions you can ask
about a news article that will help you to understand the perspectives
it is providing:
- Where was this news produced, and for what audience?
- What are the political conditions under which it was produced?
- How might the economic structure of the media influence
the news?
- What sources were used in gathering information for the
story?
