One way we can find out about what is currently going on throughout
the world is by reading the news.
News articles are published in newspapers, in magazines, and
on websites. Many printed and online news articles are made
available through library databases so that library users will
be able to access them for research purposes now and in the
future. (See example, right).
However, news is a specific form of information that is different
than many of the other types of information you can find in
the library and in its electronic databases. In contrast to
scholarly articles, for example, news is:
- written by journalists, not scholars
- usually about recent events
