The Rare Book & Manuscript Library offers lively and engaging events and exhibitions for the community and beyond.
Our programs go beyond the purely academic to embrace our role as a cultural center in a way more akin to a museum than a traditional library. We celebrate the collections through engaging exhibitions, lectures, and conferences, of course, but also in innovative ways such as the annual Shakespeare’s Birthday Party, concerts based on a new acquisitions, plays in the library, Bloomsday activities, hands-on workshops in the book arts, reading circles, and even children’s events. Events range from children’s activities to lectures to hands-on workshops. More than public events, these are efforts to bring the collections to life and make them relevant in today’s world.
