Information for First Year Experience Instructors
Below are helpful tips for first year experiences instructors on requesting a course integrated library session(s) or introductory library workshops.
- Library instruction will be the most helpful for your students when they have an assignment that requires them to do research.
- Students will learn better if the library instruction session is scheduled for when students are just starting to work on their research assignment.
- If you don’t have a research assignment, but still believe it would be beneficial for your students to learn about library services and resources, workshops covering library basics are a good alternative to an instruction class. Workshops can be scheduled with the Student Success Librarian.
- Please schedule sessions or workshops at least two weeks in advance of desired date to allow for planning time.
For additional assistance, or to schedule a workshop, please contact María Emerson, Student Success Librarian, at memersn2@illinois.edu.
