Policy Statement:
The University Library provides all Library personnel with access to instructional spaces including labs and seminar rooms in order to facilitate instruction and information literacy programs, to promote the educational mission of the Library, and to support teaching and learning by members of the faculty, staff, and students of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Priority of use for Instructional space is given to support teaching and training by and among all Library personnel, and to promote Library programs including instruction and information literacy, staff training and development, and outreach and public engagement.
Library instructional spaces are reserved for the use of all Library personnel engaged in teaching and training activities. In order to assist all Library personnel in selecting the most appropriate instructional space for their needs, the Office of Library Facilities maintains a list of all Library instructional spaces. This list includes: 1) individual space use policies; 2) description of furnishings and available instructional support technology; and 3) contact information for room reservation. Assuming no instructional need for the space, all Library personnel may also reserve instructional spaces for administrative purposes on a case-by-case basis. Instructional spaces are not meant to be reserved for repeated use for administrative purposes and should be considered as the last option.
