What is Ithaka S+R Undergraduate Survey?
The Ithaka S+R Undergraduate Survey is a web-based survey. The survey allows undergraduate students at Illinois to express their attitudes and practices related to: higher education objectives, academics and coursework, role of the library, library space planning, and undergraduate research. What can the University Library learn from the survey results?
The goal of this research project is to use the Ithaka S+R Undergraduate Student Survey to help the University Library to assess student practices and attitudes with respect to library services in order to support planning for the future of the University Library and institutional information services. The Ithaka S+R Undergraduate Student Survey provides colleges and universities with the opportunity to survey their students on a variety of topics:
- Expectations about the purpose and desired outcomes of higher education and the contributions their university appears to be making
- Types of curricular and course formats students experience and their perceptions of them
- Information discovery and usage patterns, including perceptions of the role of library services and support
Who are invited to participate?
A random sample of 30% of the on-campus undergraduate students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign who are 18 years old or older are invited to participate. Participation is voluntary.
How long does it take to complete the survey?
15-30 minutes
Will survey participants receive compensation or rewards before, during, or after participation?
Upon completing the survey, participants will have a chance to win one of the ten $50 Target gift cards by entering their email addresses for drawing. An individual’s name/email entered for the prize draw will not be connected to his/her survey responses.
How is the privacy of participants protected?
Library faculty and staff who may see your information will maintain confidentiality to the extent of laws and university policies. Personal identifiers will not be published or presented.
