The Sousa Archives and Center for American Music will celebrate John Philip Sousa’s 160th birthday and his service to the U.S. Navy during WWI starting at noon on November 6, 2014 with an afternoon of listening to historical Sousa Band recordings and recent recordings of the U.S. Marine Band performing the “March King’s” marches. The cutting of a special birthday cake will begin at 1pm and our celebration will continue until the music runs out. So please stop by for a sweet treat and a tour of the Center’s new American Music Month exhibits created on the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I.
