Navigating Archon, Our Collections Database
A common “first stop” in researching at the University of Illinois Archives is a visit to Archon, our collections database. Two search functions, a hierarchal list of collections, and subject/topic lists are some of the different ways that users can locate interesting material. Mapping History at Illinois
From its inception in 2015 as a project to “highlight the extraordinary history of the University of Illinois for its [2017] sesquicentennial anniversary,” Mapping History at Illinois has been an incredible resource for anyone interested in the past 150 years of the University of Illinois. A multifaceted, interdisciplinary project, it brought together scholars and students from across campus and beyond to create an interactive website which presents “an overarching narrative that integrates the idea of place via maps, 3D imagery, and archival content.”
Digital Resources
Advances in digitization technology give archivists a powerful toolkit in presenting archival and historical information to patrons. On our Digital Resources page, Student Life and Culture Archives staff have assembled a handy guide to some of the most helpful and commonly-used Web-based resources.
