The library provides a number of services related to publishing and open access, particularly digital publishing, for the university community, including consultation on publication options and processes, integration of publishing projects into courses.
Digital Publishing & Open Access Services
We are excited to provide support for digital publishing and open access at the university! We provide support in a number of ways:
- consultations
- workshops & instruction on topics including open access, scholarly publishing, and peer review
- online guides on scholarly communication, digital publishing tools, and open access
- information and assistance with article processing charge (APC) waiver and discount agreements managed by the library
- open access digital publishing through the Illinois Open Publishing Network (IOPN) for journals and long-form publications, pending review, approval, and a publication agreement
- support for classes incorporating digital publishing components or projects (in collaboration with the Digital Humanities Librarian)
Services Not Offered
There are some services we are unable to offer. We cannot:
- host boutique digital projects or open-ended digital publication projects without a final publication product and publication date
- create and populate your digital publication with your content
- provide funds for payment of APCs for open access publication that are not covered by waivers as part of a negotiated agreement.
