The University of Illinois Library gladly accepts gifts-in-kind as a way to provide additional materials that might not otherwise be available to users of our collections. To ensure that such gifts will benefit students and researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and elsewhere, gifts-in-kind are mediated by the appropriate disciplinary librarian(s). Responsible stewardship of gifts is important, and the University Library does not accept gifts without prior screening due to a number of factors including cost of assessment and processing, high likelihood of duplication within the existing collections, and difficulty in disposing of items not added to our collections.
After consultation with appropriate disciplinary librarians, Collection Management Services – Oak Street Library receives and processes most gifts of materials to the Library. Please see the links below for more information
