Description
Donation consisted of an honorary stole and cap which Stiven received from the University of Chicago; two University of Illinois recital programs (1922 and undated); personal letters to Stiven (dated 1911) by Alexandre Guilmantand other members of the Guilmant family, along with an invitation to Guilmant’s funeral; Guilmant’s obituary notice; a copy of a short article by Stiven published ‘in The Diapason describing his final lesson with Guilmant; other miscellaneous papers; and the following book with author’s inscription:
Carpenter, John, and Rue Carpenter. Improving songs for anxious children . (New York: 1913; inscription dated May 6, 1922). [In Music and performing Arst Library Special Collections: MT898 .C27 I5]
Arrangement
Cap and stole,in all probability, have been deposited elsewhere at the University of Illinois, possibly in the administrative offices of the School of Music. Stivens personal papers have been arranged alphabetically by subject and thereunder, chronologically, and are deposited with the University Archives.
