Media Commons

The Media Commons is the hub for digital media and emerging technology in the Main Library. Our services provide library patrons access to hardware, software and expertise related to the creation and production of digital media. Whether your project involves video, audio, photo, design, or emerging media, we’re here to support you. Visit our Collaboration space in Main Library 220 to access our computer lab, scanning lab, or collaborative study spaces. You can also head upstairs to Main Library 306 to access our Help Desk, Loanable Technology, and check out our Studios!

Rebrand!

The Media Commons relocated from the Undergraduate Library to merge with the Scholarly Commons in 2021. While our equipment, services and studios has remained largely unchanged, updating the name of the merged unit to Media Commons clarifies the scope of our services and will improve marketing and communication.

What happened to the Scholarly Commons?

Library support for digital scholarship and data-driven research has been distributed across a range of units including Research Data Services, TLAS, and Scholarly Communication and Publishing. Patrons seeking support in these areas can request help from these units or contact Scholarly Communication and Publishing at spub@library.illinois.edu.
