ABYZ News Links – Americas It is a directory of links to online news sources from around the world. Organized on a geographical basis, it contains links to newspapers and other sites with news content such as broadcast stations, internet services, magazines, and press agencies. In the Americas’ section, the portal provides access to regional and local outlets. The website is in English but it links to national media in local languages.
Access World News It provides access to news articles from 1972 from more than 9,000 sources, based in more than 150 countries. It is a comprehensive news collection including print and online-only newspapers, blogs, newswires, journals, broadcast transcripts, and videos. Content is easily searched and sorted through an intuitive, map-based interface, and you can search by source type, country, date, or language, among other features. The website is in English but it provides access to national news content published in local languages.
Foreign Broadcast Information Service (FBIS) This is an archive of 20th Century news from around the world. For nearly 70 years, the FBIS monitored the world’s airwaves and other news outlets, transcribing and translating selected contents into English and, in the process, creating a multi-million page historical archive of the global news media. It includes news about the United States foreign and domestic policy after World War II. The database is searchable by geographical region, date, countries, and language, among other criteria.
Business Wire Latin America Provides over 100 full text newspapers in Spanish and Portuguese from across Latin America. Key titles include El Universal, Mexico City’s largest-selling newspaper; O Globo (Brazil); La Nación (Argentina); El Mercurio (Chile), El Economista (Mexico), Valor Economico (Brazil), Portafolio (Colombia). Caribbean News Agency (CANA) A multi-media organization based in Barbados, it provides in-depth coverage of the socio-economic and political issues as well as sporting activities in the Caribbean and has correspondents throughout the English and Dutch speaking Caribbean as well as in the Diaspora of North America and Europe.
Caribbean 360 Based in Barbados, the website provides free access to regional news of the Caribbean region, including current affairs, general interest stories, economics, politics, and sports. In English.
Caribbean Newspaper Digital Archive (CNDL) This archive provides access to digitized versions of Caribbean newspapers, gazettes, and other materials on newsprint held in archives, libraries, and private collections in the Caribbean and circum-Caribbean regions, and it is still adding historical and current newspapers in order to expand the material available. The website and the search tool are both available in English, Spanish, and French, and you can search by language, publisher, and type of publication, such as newspapers or magazines. The map search also helps to geographically locate the inquiry. The CNDL is maintained by the Digital Library of the Caribbean (dLOC), created by the Archives Nationale d’Haïti, the Caribbean Community Secretariat (CARICOM); the National Library of Jamaica; La Fundación Global Democracia y Desarrollo (FUNGLODE); the Universidad de Oriente, Venezuela; the University of the Virgin Islands; the Florida International University; the University of Central Florida; and the University of Florida. The dLOC provides access to more than 2.6 million pages of content related to the Caribbean.

Ethnic NewsWatch (ENW) This database provides access to full-text collection of more than 2.5 million articles from over 340 publications, including newspapers, magazines, and journals of the ethnic and minority press. Nearly a quarter of the material are in Spanish and major Latino publications are available through the database, such as El Nuevo Herald and El Chicano Weekly. Some of the ethnic categories covered by the collection are African American/Caribbean/African; Hispanic, and Native People. A majority of this content is exclusive to ENW and not available in any other database.

UIUC Library Newspaper Database The University of Illinois Newspaper Database is a catalog of the Library’s newspaper collection. Use it to find newspapers held at UIUC, regardless of format (e.g. original print, microfilm, or digitized). Search the holdings of the History, Philosophy & Newspaper Library by language, title, country, or date, among other criteria. University of New Mexico Latin America Data Base The LADB is one of the longest running premier news and educational services about Latin America. The LADB features three weekly publications: NotiCen, uncovering Central America and the Caribbean, including Cuba; NotiSur, covering South American affairs, and SourceMex, that focuses on Mexican issues, including matters related to the U.S. – Mexico border and bilateral relations. The LADB also maintains an archive of over 28,000 articles collected from a variety of LA&C news sources and journals. Full access to the database requires a subscription. University of Texas at San Antonio Guide to Latin American online news sources This resource organizes LA&C online news sources by regions (Mexico, Central America, Caribbean, and South America), countries, and A-Z. It links to several websites locally produced. Although the guide is in English, most of the original sources are written in local languages.
