The Latin American & Caribbean Studies collection itself is scattered across the web and across several different physical library locations. The majority of the collection resides in the Main Stacks of the Main Library or is available by request from our Oak Street high density storage facility, however collection materials can be found in several other libraries across campus. To be sure of an item’s exact location, always be sure to check the catalog record for both the call number AND library, like so:
Apart from the Main Stacks, circulating items in the collection may also be found at any of the following libraries:
- History, Philosophy, and Newspaper Library has a collection of the recent English language scholarship about Latin America, and a very important collection of our historical newspapers covering most of the region since the nineteenth century.
- Maps and Geography Library holds more than 32,000 historic and current Latin American maps, and also atlases, aerial photographs, books and journals from cartography to global positioning systems (GPS).
- Music and Performing Arts Library holds academic material from and about Latin America in music, dance, and theater, from multi-format recordings to scores that include 47 Havana music sheet from the 1960s.
- Rare Book and Manuscript Library
- Social Sciences, Health and Education Library
