Political Risk Yearbook – current only
Used by business to determine regime stability, this resource has a wealth of information related to social, economic, and, in particular, political aspects of about 100 countries.

CQ Researcher
Provides overviews, background, current events and bibliographies on many topics.

Access World News – 1977 to present
Sources include articles from newspapers, news-wires, transcripts, online news, blogs, journals, college and university newspapers, videos and newsletters.  You can also use the interface to read Newsweek and some military and government news sources.

Nexis Uni
Lexis-Nexis Academic Universe identifies full text publications for users wanting to search news, US and international law, countries or public figures or a combination of these.

New York Times Historical – 1851-
This is the “paper of record” for the United States, but it frequently captures news from around the world.  Enter the search including the country’s name and records come up in reverse order with the oldest articles first.
