2 New Digital Collections of Women’s Magazines

The Library now has permanent access to the second series in ProQuest’s Women’s Magazine Archive. Series 2 adds six more titles to the collection (for a total of twelve magazines), and like its predecessor the magazines are, wherever possible, digitized in full color. Series 2 is also notable for the addition of Essence magazine, a publication for African American women.

The full title list now includes:

  • Better Homes and Gardens (1886-2005)
  • Cosmopolitan (1928-2005)
  • Essence (1970-2005)
  • Good Housekeeping (1885-2005)
  • Ladies’ Home Journal (1885-2005)
  • Parents (1926-2005)
  • Redbook (1903-2005)
  • Seventeen (1944-2005)
  • Town and Country (1846-2005)
  • Woman’s Day (1937-2005)
  • Chatelaine (1928-2005)
  • Women’s International Network News (1975-2003)

The Library has also acquired permanent access to the Women’s Wear Daily Archive, which, like the Vogue Magazine Archive, provides access to a complete run of this important trade newspaper, with semiannual updates (meaning the most recent six months will not be available). Wherever possible the issues are digitized in full color. Advertisements are indexed by designer.
