Support for deposit of and open access to research outputs in the institutional repository, IDEALS, including grant white papers, research article preprints, research reports produced by campus units, doctoral theses and dissertations, campus conference proceedings, and other similar content.
Open Access at Illinois: Policy and Resources
Participation in Transformative Agreements and “subscribe to open” models for publishing of work as Open Access, allowing university researchers to publish their work Open Access without fees with key publishers.
Illinois Open Publishing Network
Infrastructure and support for publication of Open Access digital journals and digital scholarship projects that go beyond the traditional print book format (such as those including multimedia or interactive visualizations), via the Illinois Open Publishing Network
Research Data Service
Infrastructure and support for deposit and dissemination of research data sets through the Illinois Data Bank, as well as curation of every deposited dataset to ensure that it is understandable and reusable once made openly available. Active membership in the Data Curation Network also provides access to greater expertise to improve data reproducibility. Additional education and consultation services on data management and curation enables implementation of best practices by UIUC researchers.

Open Education Resources Incentive Program
Support for creation and adoption of open educational resources (OER), including through local pilots funding 1) stipends for review of existing OER for possible adoption, 2) stipends for more in-depth work to create new OER or adapt existing OER. Additionally, participation in a CARLI consortium NEA grant to support the creation of OER in the field of health research at member institutions.
