Night and weekend supervisor
Duties: Looking for an interesting job to gain library experience? Night and weekend hours are available at Ricker Library. We will train you in answering reference and directional questions, supervising undergraduate student staff, stacks maintenance tasks, bibliographic searching, materials processing, and more!
Major duties include:
- Providing supervisory support to student workers during the library’s evening weekly hours and on Sundays
- Night supervisors will be required to make decisions and conduct actions in the absence of librarians or civil service staff, in accordance with established policies and procedures. This encompasses circulation-related troubleshooting, some reference assistance, as well as patron-related situations that may occur.
Rate of pay: $18.00 per hour
Required:
- Must be a currently enrolled graduate student. School of Information Sciences or related discipline preferred.
- Evidence of ability to work effectively with diverse populations
- Excellent communication skills
- Attention to detail
- Have a sincere interest to work with and supervise undergraduate students
- Ability to collaborate with daytime student supervisor to ensure smooth transition of student staff working evenings and weekends
- Ability to collaborate with graduate hourly supervisor on materials processing and collection maintenance projects
- Must be available to work night (4-7pm Monday-Thursday) and Sunday (1-7pm) hours
Desirable:
- Customer service experience
- Experience working in libraries
- Art, Design or Architecture background or interest
- Knowledge of Dewey Decimal classification system
- Knowledge of Ex Libris Alma/Primo VE platforms
