Critical Announcement
As of June 28, 2021, Individual Seat reservations are no longer required. However, please continue to practice social distancing and adhere to all campus COVID policies. Users who have not been vaccinated MUST wear masks at all times. Group Studies and conference rooms will not be available until later in the summer.
All users must make an advanced reservation for a specific seat in select areas of the building. There are no Group Studies, Meeting or Conference Rooms available for the semester. Reservations are limited to current students, staff and faculty with a valid I-card, one reservation per day, six maximum per week. Study Seat Reservation Policies
- Only current students, staff and faculty with a valid I-card may make reservations and must use their @illinois.edu email address.
- Reservations must be verified within 30 minutes.
- Patron must use their I-card to check-in at Circulation Desk no more than 10 minutes before the reservation start time.
- Reservations are automatically canceled after 15 minutes after the start time.
- Beginninging November 6th, maximum reservation time for all reservations is 4 hours.
- Reservations must be made at least 4 hours in advance.
- Only ONE (1) reservation per day at Grainger Library
- Start times are set at every 15 minutes (ex. 9 am; 9:15, 9:30; 9:45)
- Minimum time duration for all reservations is 45 minutes
- If you know you will not be using a Study Seat, please cancel your reservation using the link in your confirmation email.
- Reservations can be made up to 10 days in advance.
- Multiple reservations, standing or recurring reservations cannot be made with single booking.
Study Seat Use Policies
- Masks must be worn at all times.
- Patrons must stay in their designated seat for the duration of their reservation.
- Patrons will be asked to wipe down tables, chairs, lamp switches, etc. as part of their reservation time. Please do your part to help maintain a healthy work environment.
- Do not walk around the building. You will forfeit your reservation by being in any closed sections or areas of the building that are not within your designated seat area. You may visit restrooms.
- Printing is available, but you should do so at the end of your reservation.
- Course Reserves materials are not available for the Fall 2020 semester.
- All Library collections areas are closed to patrons due to 7-day quarantine requirements.
- If you leave the building, you may not re-enter.
- Absolutely no food. Water bottles or covered beverages are permitted.
- Vending machines are not available.
- Do NOT move furniture. Single chairs are at each appointment seat location.
- Problems or issues must be reported to the Circulation Desk immediately.

Computer Workstation Seat Reservation Policies

- EWS computers may be used by students enrolled in College of Engineering courses. Please look at EWS computer description for more information.
