Family Study Spaces & Resources

The Orange Room

The Orange Room has a family study space (room 13) on the first floor of the Main Library.  This space includes adult and child-sized furniture, a play kitchen, and children’s books. You can also check out a Family Kit with coloring books, games, toys, and puzzles. Amazon Fire Tablets and a Pack-n-Play are also available to check out at the circulation desk in the Orange Room, as are headphones and sensory tools/fidget devices.

Grainger Engineering Library and Information Center

The Grainer Engineering Library and Information center has two different spaces for parents and families –  a Lactation Space (room 429), and a Family space (room 463).  The Family space also includes adult and child-sized furniture, and STEM-themed Activity Kits can be checked out at the circulation desk on the first floor.

Children’s Books

Print and Online Collections

The Social Sciences, Health, and Education Library (Room 101 on the first floor of the Main Library) has an extensive collection of children’s books, known as the School Collection or  “S-Collection.”  Books are available at a wide variety of reading levels, and can be checked out for up to two weeks at a time, so you can take them home!  The library also provides access to online children’s books, and books in a variety of languages.

Health Information and Support

Food Pantry

The Orange Room on the first floor of the Main Library is home to a food pantry, supported by the Wesley Foundation.  There is no cost for the service, and no sign-up or registration required.  The food pantry also has a microwave for re-heating meals from home.

Self-Care Stations and Health Information

Both the Funk ACES Library and Grainger Engineering Library and Information Center are home to self-care stations provided by the McKinley Health Center.  The machines provide over-the counter medical supplies, sexual health supplies, a sleep pack, and more. Everything included in these stations are part of your health care fee so there is no charge to students..  A current iCard is required for access.  The machines are on the first floors of both libraries.

Additionally, Grainger Library also has a health information center located adjacent to their self-care station, with rotating information about library and community health support programs.
