Loanable Tech

As of Summer 2024, Ricker Library is offering loanable technology for in-library use! Our collection is as follows:

Computers

We have seven public computers for patrons to use. These computers are equipped with:

  • Basic Microsoft Office programs
  • Web-browsing software
  • Adobe Photoshop
  • Adobe Acrobat Professional

Library users can also connect to the university wi-fi using your own devices. For more information, take a look at the guide to Wireless Internet in the Library put together by Technology Services.

Printing & Scanning

Library users can print from any of the seven computer stations to the library’s laser printer at the print release station. The print release station is the computer closest to the staff desk. Login to the print release station using your NetID and password in order to release the print job.

For more information on printing at Ricker, see our Printing Instructions. Have a look at the Main Library’s detailed instructions about public printing.

We have one overhead scanner that allows patrons save to a USB drive or e-mail documents. We also have three flatbed scanners available for your use. The flatbed scanners are connected to three of the public computer stations, and are equipped to perform scans using Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Acrobat Pro. Two are appropriate for larger-sized materials. These machines are available on a first-come, first-served basis. As a courtesy to other patrons, we ask that users be aware of others waiting, and limit your time on the scanner when others are waiting to use it. Please see Library staff for assistance.

Microform Reader

If scanning from microfilm or microfiche is required, the librarians can help patrons make arrangements to use the scanners at the History, Philosophy, and Newspaper Library.
